When is the best time to send a review request email?
For physical products, 5 to 10 days after confirmed delivery is the window with the highest response rates. Sending too soon (before the product has been used) or too late (after 30 days) both reduce responses. For digital products or services, sending within 24 to 48 hours of completion works better.
Can I offer a discount in exchange for a review?
Offering an incentive for any review is permitted by the FTC provided it is clearly disclosed and you do not require a positive review. Most major review platforms (Google, Yelp, Trustpilot) prohibit incentivised reviews in their terms. Shopify review apps allow or restrict this differently. Check your platform's policy before running an incentivised campaign.
How many times should I follow up if someone does not review?
One follow-up, sent 5 to 7 days after the initial request, is standard. Two or more follow-ups produce diminishing returns and increase unsubscribe rates. Keep the follow-up shorter than the original email.
